This program is designed to help students gain in-depth knowledge about the world of fashion. Students learn the creative process, cultural influences on design, production, marketing, communication, and more. This course focuses on fabric choice and care before moving on to advanced sewing skills such as decorations and embroidery. It also emphasizes constructing patterns for specific garments. Students learn the basics of flat and garment detail drawing, illustrations using Adobe Illustrator, and building a styling portfolio.
The B.Sc. Fashion Design program combines fashion studies with intensive studio practice. You will refine your own creative vision as you meet the challenge of designing new clothing and accessories for existing fashion brands. B.Sc. Fashion Design professionals may receive offers from both government and private design companies. They may work in positions such as fashion stylist, fashion coordinator, fashion consultant, colorist, apparel merchandiser, fashion journalist, fashion photographer, freelancer, costume designer, technical designer, and visual merchandiser. You will gain a deep understanding of the fashion industry and be well-prepared for an exciting career within it.
The employment of fashion designers is projected to grow by 33 percent over the next ten years, although this rate is slower than the average for all occupations.
